Micah turns 9
To our gorgeous Micah Seth, you have now turned 9! What?! I can't quite believe it. 9 seems so much older than 8, not a little but a lot. I can't quite get my head around it.
Your birthday
You were excited about your birthday this year. You wanted a birthday balloon put in your room ready for the morning (like we do for everyone else). You wanted a cake. You said no to presents but we didn't believe you. You had school on your birthday but I think that helped you because a lot of your day was the same as any other day. You loved the sweets on your cake (you never eat the sponge but you always say its the best cake ever). You enjoyed opening all your presents and your favourites were football socks and your very own microphone and speaker. You even sat on your birthday chair this year! To finish off your special day we had McDonalds for dinner which you loved. We then lit the candles on your cake and you blew them out (you didn't want us to sing 'Happy Birthday' to you this year). Noah said he would have a sleepover in your room which I think was your absolute highlight.
So much more
Micah, my sweetheart. I don't think you're aware of this but a lot of the time when Mummy and Daddy meet with people and have conversations/meetings/appointments about you, we have to talk a lot about the things you struggle with, things you are slow to do, things you cant do and things you might not ever do. This is really tough and can make us sad. We don't like to focus on those things because my boy, there is so much more to you. You are so much more than the struggles.
Celebrating you
So, Micah Moo as we celebrate you turning 9, we want to celebrate you and all you have achieved this past year.
Micah Seth this is your year...
- You changed from one school to another which meant a complete change in location, change of friends, teachers, school uniform and journey to school - and you have aced it! You might not have found it easy and you might not have understood it but we are so proud that you've done it!
- You are starting to read bud, I don't think you really understand how much of a good thing this is.
- You have wanted to be more independent this year. Trying to dress/undress yourself more, putting your seat belt on, even standing up on a swing (which for you, you absolutely love, but for me, this is completely terrifying!).
- You went bowling with us and you enjoyed it. The noises and lights didn't seem to bother you too much and you were really good at waiting for your turn.
- You went on a school trip with your new school. It wasn't with any of the children from your class that you knew and it was something very out of your ordinary. I really didn't think you would go but you did.
- You are loving climbing the Tors on Dartmoor. You are becoming more adventurous even if you don't quite see all the dangers (Again, terrifying!) But your confidence is growing and it's great to see.
- The way you draw and colour is more intentional now. It is not just one big scribble all over a page. You are doing separate marks for different objects (although you always seem to draw Daddy, what about me, Mr?)
- You tried something new and went on a big wheel by the beach in the summer. I don't think you loved it and I think it did make you feel quite anxious but you conquered it!
- Sports day! You did sports day and you smashed it.
